MECHANICAL ENGINEER - New Product Development
SUMMARY: The Mechanical Engineer will contribute to the development of new product designs as a member of a cross-functional team that result in the launch of complex electro-mechanical devices and related dressing kits for advanced wound care products that meet defined business needs. The mechanical design engineer will create and manage the CAD models and drawings for product concepts as well as finished products. The mechanical design engineer will contribute to design analyses, prototyping, and testing.
CRITICAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Strong skills in engineering drafting / drawing, mathematics, and mechanical design
· Knowledge of mechanical engineering best practices and basic principles (including design principles, basic calculations, and medical device standards/practices)
· Experience with plastic part design
· Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT)
· Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously
· Prepare and present technical details of product design to design review audiences consisting of technical and non-technical personnel.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
· Solid Works (CAD),
· Computer Modeling and Finite Element Analysis (FEA),
· Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
· 5 years of product design experience.
· 2 years minimum experience in a regulated industry working under an ISO 9001 Quality System.
· Electro-mechanical medical device, wound care products, and/or surgical equipment design experience preferred.
· Experience generating 3D CAD models and detail drawings for components and assemblies is preferred.
· Experience designing single-use products/components is a plus.
· Experience working with outside contactors is a plus.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
· Position generally requires sitting 60% of the time and standing/walking 40%. Occasionally requires lifting and carrying equipment and materials weighing 10-20.
Requires the ability to travel throughout the US & Internationally 15% of the time to coordinate project activities.
